Why PALS Exists

PALS Respite Care, LLC was established in 2022 by Tiffany Barksdale. After her son was diagnosed with Down syndrome in 2013 and later in 2016 with autism, Tiffany and her husband often found it extremely difficult to find adequate childcare, support in taking care of their son and respite breaks while they both worked outside of the home. As a parent, seeking someone that is trustworthy, reliable and caring is often a concern. Moreover, those apprehensions heighten when you're a special needs parent.

Tiffany knew first hand what other parents felt when they shared stories of their children and how difficult the journey has been in finding the right person to care for their loved ones as well as needing a short break from time to time. Considering, she made a goal to help support others that had the same struggles as she and extended her vision to connect families of children of unique, ALL abilities and the elderly with patient, accommodating, loving and support individuals that could provide relief from time to time. In 2022, she made the decision to leave the classroom and push the vision that God had given her in 2013 now that it was much clearer and it was coming into full fruition.

Tiffany is a Virginia native and a graduate of Virginia Union University in which she earned a B. S. in Interdisciplinary Studies, Elementary Education with endorsements in grades Pre-K through 6th grade and gifted education. Eager to expand her career, Tiffany earned a M. Ed. in Educational Management from Strayer University.
